How to Visit


Visitors are welcome every day of the year.

In addition to the land, visitors are encouraged to visit two remarkable examples of architectural and cultural beauty:
The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya is the largest example of Tibetan sacred architecture in the West.
The Amaterasu Omikami Shrine is the only such shrine to this important Shinto deity located outside of Japan.


Directions to Shambhala Mountain Center from Denver International Airport

  • Take Pena Boulevard for 9.8 miles
  • Take the 40th Avenue Exit, Exit Number 1A, towards I-70E/Airport Blvd./Aurora for .2 miles
  • Merge onto Airport Blvd for .3 miles
  • Merge onto I-70 for 5.2 miles
  • Take the I-270 N Exit, exit number 279, towards Ft. Collins for 4.7 miles
  • Take the I-25 North Exit towards Ft. Collins for 62 miles
  • Pass the Budweiser Beer Factory and take Owl Canyon Road - Exit 281
  • Head west towards the mountains for 7.5 miles and follow the road sharply to the right just past Weaver Ranch.
  • Continue 1.2 miles and make a left at the "T".
  • Go 3 miles into the mountains to a Stop sign at Highway 287.
  • Go right and continue for 2.5 miles, then turn left on 74E just before the Fork's Restaurant. (Sign to Livermore, Red Feather Lakes and Boy Scout Ranch.)
  • Drive 16 miles on 74E then make a left onto County Road 68C. (Wooden sign on left says Ben De Latour Boy Scout Ranch.)
  • Go 5 miles to Shambhala Mountain Center entrance on left.

Directions to Shambhala Mountain Center from Boulder

  • From 28th Street, go east on the Diagonal for 5.2 miles
  • Turn right on Highway 52 and go 11.2 miles to Interstate I-25
  • Go north (left) on I-25 for 46 miles to Owl Canyon Road-Exit 281
  • Head west towards the mountains for 7.5 miles and follow the road sharply to the right just past Weaver Ranch
  • Continue 1.2 miles and make a left at the "T"
  • Go 3 miles into the mountains to a Stop sign at Highway 287
