Classification:  Core Staff / Part Time

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and committed individual to join Shambhala Mountain Center’s dynamic and fast-paced Development department.  We are in search of a part-time Grant Writer primarily responsible for government fundraising.  Responsibilities will also include foundation and corporate fundraising.  This high profile role works closely with the Development Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write grant proposals, re-submissions, and reports for government funders
  • Serve as a resource to the SMC on city, state, and federal funding programs; provide information, research, analysis, written reports and recommendations as needed
  • Prepare contract-related documents (e.g., budgets, outcomes, goals, and objectives)
  • Write compelling grant proposals and reports to secure new commitments and upgrade existing donor commitments
  • Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for new grants
  • Work closely with the Senior Staff, Program Directors, and Administration to ensure maximum coordination across the agency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2-3 years government grant-writing experience within the social service field preferred
  • Proven success in writing public grant proposals
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and deadlines is imperative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the development team
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse staff
  • Familiar with issues related to retreat centers, mindfulness, meditation, and Shambhala.

Compensation:
  • Attend weekend programs at no cost
  • Personal days – 18/year.  program days- 15/year
