Much of the recovery path seems to focus on struggle: breaking free of painful habits, facing inner demons, and cleaning up past karma. In all of this, we may lose sight of the ultimate purpose of recovery: finding happiness in our lives. This talk will look at the ways that Buddhist teachings and practices can help us to make a shift towards a more positive experience of recovery and working with the 12 Steps.
The talk begins at 7 pm at the Solstice Center at 302 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO 80302.
Kevin Griffin will also be leading a retreat with Greg Pergament on December 6-8th at the Shambhala Mountain Center: The Joy of Recovery: Buddhism, Chi Kung & 12 Steps.
Kevin Griffin is the author of the seminal recovery book, One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps, and A Burning Desire: Dharma God and the Path of Recovery. A longtime Buddhist practitioner and 12 Step participant, he is a leader in the mindful recovery movement and a co-founder of the Buddhist Recovery Network.
