Fluid Presence - Awakened Body: A Continuum Workshop with Gael Ohlgren & Susan HarperJune 4 – 7, 2009![]()
This program has been canceled.
In these times of fast and complex life styles, the body often gets left behind. Exercise routines, when we find time for them, are often driven and almost punitive in their ambitions. Stress, speed, and trauma all lead to a numb body susceptible to fear and dependent on outside authority. In this Continuum workshop, we will explore the organic rhythms of life and health, which tend to be much slower than the pace of our daily lives. Through self-paced personal dialog with breath, sound, and movement, we will learn to listen to the body’s language and the emotional language of the psyche. As we take heed of these messages beckoning us towards great health, we will become more alert and awake and gain the ability to hear our soul more acutely. Living in an awakened body brings us into present time where we can experience a luscious world of pleasure at subtler levels—a place where psyche, soul, and body intersect. Susan Harper has been teaching Continuum Movement since 1975. She contributed to the development of the work and organization of Continuum and continues to mentor many of the Continuum teachers. She introduced Continuum to Japan, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and Finland and has led Quest trips to Tibet, Bali and Borneo. Susan also developed an Em'oceans and Sensations Training and is currently developing Portals of Perception with Hubert Godard. She has trained and taught with Emilie Conrad, Chris Price, Peter Levine, and Wendy Palmer. Gael Ohlgren has been studying somatic therapy since the late 1960s when she worked as a massage therapist at Esalen. She has studied with Ida Rolf, creator of Structural Integration, Peter Levine, developer of Somatic Experiencing®, and Emilie Conrad, founder of Continuum, and augments her private practice with cranial/sacral and visceral manipulation and nerve sheath release. Gael also helped develop the Rolfing Movement program at the Rolf Institute. A Continuum teacher since 2002, Gael teaches internationally. Please arrive between 2 and 5pm on Thursday, June 4. Program ends with lunch at 12:30pm on Sunday, June 7. View Detailed Program Information. |
