Family Camp with Kerry Lee MacLean and Lisa CargermanAugust 3 – 9, 2009
Enjoy a precious opportunity to celebrate our extended community of families and to practice together while experiencing the beauty of the land at Shambhala Mountain. During the mornings, while your children attend Shotoku or Rites of Passage, take time for yourself to meditate, exercise or relax. During the afternoons and evenings, partake in family activities such as Ikebana, calligraphy, kite flying, storytelling and singing. Join us as we appreciate the richness of our families and our friendships, old and new.
Kerry MacLean has directed the Shambhala Children's Rites of Passage for 13 years, both in Boulder and at Shambhala Mountain. The mother of five meditators and author of Peaceful Piggy Meditation and The Family Meditation Book, she travels throughout the United States, Europe and Australia, helping Buddhist communities develop high-quality programs for children and their families. She received a BA in psychology from Naropa University. Lisa Cargerman, PhD, a child and family psychologist, is the director of the Family Counsel and the Parenting as a Path groups at the Boulder Shambhala Center. She also teaches family yoga and conflict-resolution classes. Lisa, her husband and her three children consistently use meditation techniques to enhance mindfulness in their home. Each adult and child must be registered separately for the program. In most cases adult participants pay the Center's usual room and board rates while children are charged discounted rates of $265 for the first child and $215 for each additional child. However, in order for children to receive the discounted rates lodging must have already been paid in full.
