Shotoku Children's Center 2009 Summer Session

June 4 – August 23, 2009

Annual summer program with quality care for children ages 3 – 17 whose parents are program participants or staff.
During the summer, the Shotoku Children's Center provides quality care to the children of program participants and staff ages 3 through 12. Children spend six hours a day in mixed-age groups with low student-teacher ratios. Based on a contemplative educational model, the curriculum focuses on the Shambhala teachings, contemplative arts, and outdoor activities. Parents are responsible for their children outside Shotoku hours. As a result, parents may need to give up some program time or bring a nanny.

Teenagers ages 13 through 17 are required to either attend Shotoku (usually in an assistant capacity) or participate in our Mentorship Program. This program is an opportunity for teens to experience different aspects of Shambhala Mountain Center, including classes, the possibility of working in various departments, and optional meditation instruction and practice time. If you have a teen coming this summer, they must be registered.

Young adults over the age of 17 either attend a program or work as a volunteer. Contact Adana Barbieri at adana@shambhalamountain.org if you have a child this age.

All children must be registered. The cost, which includes meals, is $40/day for the first child, $35/day for each additional child. Young adults who attend programs as participants are charged standard program rates less a 10% student discount. Children should be registered at least two weeks in advance of arrival whenever possible.

For more information about Shotoku, please click here, or contact Adana Barbieri at adana@shambhalamountain.org.

If you charge your registration to a credit card you will be charged the total amount owed: $40 (or $35 for additional children) for each night between your stated arrival and departure dates.

If you and your children are interested in attending a family-oriented program at Shambhala Mountain Center, please consider Family Yoga with Sydney Solis & Jeanie Manchester June 19 to 21 or 2009 Family Camp with Kerry Lee MacLean and Lisa Cargerman August 3 to 9.

The registration date for this
program has already passed.
