Few areas of life are so difficult to relate to with intelligence and heart as money. The intense confusion in our society around money is often reflected in our own lives as anxiety and lack of vision with our finances. The Shambhala Buddhist teachings offer a powerful context for examining this confusion, and a path for relating in an uplifted way with this very practical part of our lives. We can bring gentleness and precision to our understanding of money, and discover sanity at the center of confusion. Join us for a weekend of exercises, meditation, and contemplations that will foster insight into our personal relationships to money. Together we will explore how the wisdom of these teachings helps us bring clarity, vision, strength, and humor to working with our resources. Joanne Martin Braun, PhD, is a financial educator and psychologist who began studying Shambhala Buddhism in 1979. Now a senior teacher, she teaches workshops on money as a path throughout the country. Her teaching style is warm, practical, and inspiring, reflecting the perspective that our financial life is not a problem to be fixed, but another opportunity to cultivate wisdom as we bring it onto our path. She has a private practice in Fort Collins, Colorado and on the internet. Alan Schwartz was among the first students of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the United States, and has been a student of Tibetan and Shambhala Buddhist teachings for over 35 years. A confessed serial entrepreneur, he has founded four innovative and successful restaurant and entertainment businesses, a software firm, and created an award-winning software product. Please arrive between 2 and 5pm on Friday, October 30. Program ends with lunch at 12:30pm on Sunday, November 1. View Detailed Program Information. |
