Bringing Your Practice Home: Yoga & Meditation with Katharine KaufmanNovember 13 – 15, 2009 Sometimes practicing yoga with others in a class or at a center may not be ideal or even an option due to health, scheduling, or financial reasons. In other cases, we may be ready to take the creative step away from the classroom to find our own individual style and needs. In this retreat, we will focus on creating, deepening, and enjoying a home practice that combines ancient knowledge with an awareness of the body's cues and wisdom. Three different types of practices will be developed: therapeutic/restorative, short practices, and an individualized longer practice that includes chanting, pranayama, and meditation. Both classic and improvisational practice will be addressed. This retreat is open to all levels. Katharine Kaufman, MFA, has been steeped in the movement arts for 30 years. She studied yoga in India and with Richard Freeman, and taught at the Yoga Workshop in Boulder for seventeen years. Currently, she teaches at Naropa University, Studio Be Yoga, and in Longmont. Katharine also teaches therapeutic yoga privately. Ordained in the Soto Zen lineage, she is a warm teacher with a gentle sense of humor and a rich understanding of yoga.
