Holiday Werma Retreat with Acharya Fleet Maull: Registration for $40/Night Participants

December 26, 2009 – January 2, 2010

Start the new year invoking the wisdom, compassion and power of the Ridgen.
As part of the Druk Sakyong's terma The Scorpion Seal of the Golden Sun, The Roar of the Werma expresses the highest level of the Shambhala teachings. Practicing this sadhana is a direct means of joining with and understanding the mind of the Sakyongs. It is with the eyes of the Rigden that we can manifest our fullest expression of what it means to be a full human being—simply, directly, and immediately.

The focus of this retreat will be intensive practice. It is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the sadhana as well as draw upon the potency of practicing with other warriors. Both longtime and new practitioners of The Roar of the Werma are warmly welcomed to join us. There will be a separate track offered for 2009 Scorpion Seal Assembly graduates.

Prerequisite: Participants must be practitioners of The Roar of the Werma sadhana.

Acharya Fleet Maull, MA, PhD candidate, has been a student of the Vidyadhara, the Venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche since 1977 and is a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He earned a masters degree in Buddhist and Western Psychology from Naropa University in 1979, attended the Vajradhatu Seminaries and Kalapa Assemblies, 1981 – 1984, as well as the 2006 Vajrayana Seminary as faculty, and received the Vajrayogini Abhisheka in 1989.

Fleet founded the Prison Dharma Network in 1989, National Prison Hospice Association in 1991, Peacemaker Institute in 2001, and the Center for Contemplative End of Life Care Programs at Naropa University in 2003. He served on the Naropa University faculty from 1999 to 2009. He also serves as senior faculty with the Upaya Institute’s (Santa Fe, NM) Being with Dying program and co-director of the Upaya Institute’s Chaplaincy Training Program.

He leads meditation retreats, leadership trainings, street retreats and bearing witness retreats throughout the world. His peacemaking activities range from the streets of major cities, to former death camps in Poland, to Rwanda and Israel-Palestine, to corporate board rooms and to the forgotten world inside our jails and prisons. Fleet is the author of
Dharma in Hell, the Prison Writings of Fleet Maull and numerous articles and book chapters in the fields of corrections, end of life care and socially engaged Buddhism.

Acharya Maull has held the Werma Sadhana as a core practice since receiving it from the Dorje Dradul in 1980 at the Keltic Lodge in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and is deeply inspired, to say the very least, by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s unfolding of the Scorpion Seal path.
