Shambhala Sacred Path: Meek with Jim YensanMay 7 – 9, 2010
In this program, we will be introduced to “the four dignities,” which characterize a warrior's maturing and widening sphere of benevolent engagement in the world, as a path and a process. Training in the dignities allows us to maintain awareness and delight at each stage. In Meek, we study the grounded, humble and gentle beginning stages of the warrior's journey. Here we train to overcome arrogance—the primary obstacle to learning.
Prerequisite: Drala Jim Yensan has been practicing meditation for nearly 40 years, taking his Buddhist vows with his teacher, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, in 1973. He has been teaching in the Buddhist and Shambhala traditions for about 30 years, and has taught all of the Shambhala Training levels in locations throughout North America. Jim has also lived at and directed both land and city meditation centers within the Shambhala organization. He currently teaches a course based on Shambhala principles at Naropa University and supports himself as a computer consultant.
