Summer Dathün Meditation Retreat with Acharya Allyn LyonJuly 30 – August 27, 2010
Deepen your connection to your practice and open your heart. Intensive practice provides a profoundly fresh view of our life—so precious in this increasingly hectic world. Designed for both newcomers and experienced students, this retreat can be attended as a whole or in weekly segments. It will include sitting and walking meditation, private interviews with a meditation instructor, and contemplative study of the four foundations of mindfulness. Meals will be taken in Zen oryoki style, and periods of silence will be observed.
For a deep immersion into the path of meditation and warriorship, we invite you to attend the entire dathün. You may also participate in one or more of our weeklong segments. Week I: July 30 – August 6 Week II: August 6 – 13 Week III: August 13 – 20 Weeks I & II: July 30 – August 13 Weeks II & III: August 6 – 20 Weeks III & IV: August 13 – 27 (Note: Attendance in Week IV requires participation in at least one of the earlier weeks.) Acharya Allyn Lyon is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. She has served as director of Shambhala Mountain Center and has taught at Vajradhatu Seminary. Since being appointed as an Acharya by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2000, she has traveled extensively in both North and South America leading meditation workshops and teaching Shambhala training programs. She currently serves as resident acharya in both Tepotzlan, Mexico, and Los Angeles. Allyn is known for the clarity and directness of her teaching and for her irreverent sense of humor. Due to restrictions on water usage at Shambhala Mountain Center, the laundry for participants attending the dathün will be done professionally off site. The cost for this service is included in price. Student Discount: A discount of 10% off the tent double or seasonal dorm price is available for all full-time students. The only housing options offered on our website are single or shared tents and the seasonal dorm. Although not posted, a limited number of private (for $2,470) and semi-private rooms (for $2,065/person) are available in a house adjacent to the program space. If you have an interest in one of these options contact our housing coordinator at housing@shambhalamountain.org. Please arrive between 10am and 4pm. Early arrival is encouraged. No program activities are scheduled for the departure day. View Detailed Program Information. |
