Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary
|
June 4 - July 3, 2005 For decades, Seminary has been the gateway to a deeper understanding of and commitment to our Shambhala Buddhist lineages. Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary provides qualified practitioners a month-long immersion in the Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhist teachings, cross-fertilized with the extraordinary teachings of Shambhala. Seminary integrates meditation, study and contemplation, and traditional post-meditation practices, including oryoki, rota, Shambhala arts, banquets and celebrations.
There is no more special place for a summer Seminary than Shambhala Mountain Center. Our Seminary tent is famous for bringing participants close to the power of the land. Here we practice under the brilliant blue of a Colorado sky, with breezes ruffling the pine boughs and the wild iris carpeting the valley. Occasional hailstorms punctuate the calm.
Completion of the Sutrayana provides the necessary preparation for Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary, the gateway to the vajrayana transmissions and teachings of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and his father, Ven. Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Students interested in attending Seminary must apply for and be accepted to the program. Students must have completed a dathün and an intermediate level of Buddhist classes (or equivalent through independent study) in order to attend Seminary. It is also recommended that students have completed the beginning levels of Shambhala Training. For information and an application, please click here to visit the Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary web site. Please fill out the program application (i.e., verify your eligibility) and register with Shambhala Mountain Center (i.e., book your reservation) below.
PLEASE NOTE: You are not fully registered for this program until your application has been approved and you have registered with Shambhala Mountain Center.
Students who are accepted to attend the 2005 Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary following this Sutrayana Seminary should plan to take the Entering the Vajra World program, which will be offered between the two programs, July 5-11, 2005.
Shambhala Mountain Center has very limited indoor housing options for this program. Applicants are encouraged to place deposits (50% of total program fee) for these housing options through the Shambhala Mountain web site or our call center as soon as possible in order to reserve them. In the case that an applicant is denied acceptance to the program a full refund will be issued. Once your program acceptance and housing request has been confirmed, your remaining balance will be due as follows: 20% on April 15, and 30% on May 15.
The registration date for this program has already passed.
