Compassion in the Rockies Retreat with His Holiness the Dalai Lama & Sakyong Mipham
|
September 14 - 17, 2006 Join us for this three-day meditation retreat and dialogue with Sakyong Mipham and special guests, which will culminate with a visit by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Sunday morning. His Holiness will bless The Great Stupa and will speak about how we can awaken compassion to bring peace to our lives and the world.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is a Buddhist monk, scholar, and the temporal and religious leader of the Tibetan people. Since 1959, when the Communist Chinese invaded Tibet, forcing the Dalai Lama into exile, he has emerged as an international statesman for peace. His consistent refusal to adopt the use of violence in Tibet’s struggle for freedom won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and the respect of the world community. He is recognized internationally as a champion of human rights; an environmentalist; and an advocate of religious tolerance, compassion and personal responsibility.
Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is the head of the Shambhala lineage. An incarnation of Mipham the Great, he is also the dharma heir and son of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Shambhala Mountain’s founder. He is the spiritual director of Shambhala, a global network of meditation and retreat centers, and the author of the best-selling books Turning the Mind Into an Ally and Ruling Your World. Rinpoche’s background embraces both Eastern and Western cultures. Born in Bodhgaya, India, the site of the Buddha’s enlightenment, he grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and received his spiritual training from his father and other distinguished lamas.
