Inward Journey/Outward Bound®: Colorado Backpacking with Kay Peterson, Chad Bennett & Cynthia Kneen
|
August 31 - September 9, 2007 Embark on an incomparable adventure both inside and out. Pairing the stillness of meditation practice with the movement of challenging, invigorating outdoor activities, we will stretch ourselves beyond our preconceived limitations and habits. Reach new heights of inner awareness in this journey designed to nourish the body and the spirit.
Outward Bound and Shambhala Mountain have expanded their successful collaboration to offer four unique retreat opportunities in 2007. Beginning each retreat with four days of meditation, yoga and other mindfulness practices, we will access our own inherent strength, confidence, compassion and courage. During this time, we will also learn and practice wilderness travel skills. With greater awareness of the body-mind connection, we will then venture forth on an expedition with Outward Bound further exploring and transcending our edges, individually and collectively.
During this Rocky Mountain adventure we will prepare ourselves at Shambhala Mountain Center and then embark on a backpacking and camping exploration of the pristine Rawah Mountain and Wilderness Area.
Note: For adults ages 23 and above.
Register with Outward Bound online or by phone at (866) 467-7651 (reference course number CBM732). If you have difficulty registering, contact Shambhala Mountain at (888) STUPA-21. Outward Bound cancellation policy supersedes the general Shambhala Mountain Center cancellation policy.
The program cost is $1,495 plus a transportation fee of $100.
Other Inward Journey/Outward Bound programs are being offered September 28 - October 7 (flat-water canoeing in Utah's Canyonlands), and November 2 – 11 and March 7 – 16, 2008 (climbing in Southern California).
Kay Peterson, MA, is a psychotherapist with more than 15 years of experience leading transformative outdoor experiences for youth and adults.
