Men at the Threshold: Facing Ourselves in Life's Transitions w/ Martin Lassoff, Jun Po Denis Kelly Roshi & Luke Entrup
|
October 18 - 21, 2007
 |
When standing on a precipice of change—whether a career transition, relationship breakup, loss, illness or desire to go deeper—we men have a choice as to how we face it. We can react with old habitual patterns, remain reactive in the cycle of the hysterical/historical or become conscious enough to respond compassionately as possible with strength, clarity and heart.
Designed to develop the insight and skill necessary to support a conscious leap into the unknown, this program will combine soul-searching experiential processes that embrace the sadness, fear, anger and joy of the human condition with Eastern contemplative practices. This insightful state of mind can lead us to discover that everything that arises in our life is workable. We can become grounded in the vastness of the present moment. Working from the shadow to the light, we will discover our inherent richness and strength as men. Experience the potency and power of sitting in a circle of men whose mission is to support each other in discovering a deeper level of truth, authenticity and presence. If you are ready to make a significant change in your life or support others in transition, join us for this catalytic retreat. This retreat is also appropriate for caregivers, bereavement counselors, hospice workers and therapists who work with life transitions.

Martin Lassoff is a certified leader for the Mankind Project who also teaches Shadow Work® nationwide. By helping individuals connect more deeply and consciously with their emotions, Martin assists them in working with anger, fear and grief; getting support; and breaking through habitual behavioral patterns. He brings his extensive knowledge of meditation and yoga, strong intuition, creativity and sensitivity to this highly personal work.
Over the past 25 years, Martin has manifested his love for the great outdoors through a successful landscaping and gardening business rooted in environmentally sound principles. An avid trekker as well, he has explored India, Bhutan, Peru, Central America and many remote places in North America.
Jun Po Denis Kelly began his Buddhist practice at Zen Center San Francisco in the early ’70s, later becoming a student of Eido Shimano Roshi in New York and subsequently a monk. He received his Zen Master recognition in 1992. Interested in bringing his Zen lineage (Rinzai tradition) into American culture without the Japanese cultural bindings, Junpo left the monastery and founded the lay Buddhist Hollow Bones order, of which he is abbot. A yoga instructor as well, he traces his lineage to BKS Iyengar and Patabi Jois. He established the Hollow Bones seven-day Zen retreats for the Mankind Project. Diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer in April 2006, he underwent four months of extensive treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. That treatment was successful and he is currently cancer-free.
As an educator and group facilitator, Luke Entrup has created various retreats and programs that offer the opportunity to consciously engage transition. His programs, such as Beyond The Machine and Accountability in Men, offer experiences of transformation through contemplative practices and the reintegration of "shadow" aspects that individuals and organizations carry. Luke’s work has been featured through Columbia University Press and the Discovery Channel.
