Inward Journey/Outward Bound®: Backpacking in the Colorado Rockies with Kay Peterson, Jenny Bondurant, Chad Bennett & Outward Bound Staff

June 20 - 29

Embark on an incomparable adventure both inside and out. Pairing the stillness of meditation practice with the movement of challenging, invigorating outdoor activities, we will stretch ourselves beyond our preconceived limitations and habits. Reach new heights of inner awareness in this journey designed to nourish the body and the spirit.

We will begin this retreat with four days of meditation and yoga instrucion and practice at Shambhala Mountain, where we will access our own inherent strength, confidence, compassion and courage. During this time, we will also learn and practice wilderness travel skills. With greater awareness of the body-mind connection, we will then venture forth, backpacking through the pristine Rawah Mountain and Wilderness Area.

Note: All programs are for adults ages 23 and above.

Price: $1,595 + $100 transportation fee

Kay Peterson is a psychotherapist with more than 15 years of experience facilitating transitions for individuals and groups in conventional, outdoor and wilderness settings. A Certified Wilderness First Responder, she is also a Shambhala Meditation Instructor.

Jenny Bondurant has been practicing meditation since 1980 and has completed the traditional Buddhist three-year retreat. A senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, she began her spiritual journey in her native England, where she spent three years working for Outward Bound. She has combined her love of the natural world with a deep exploration of the path of meditation and the teachings of Buddhism. She now divides her time between teaching and being in retreat at her home in Colorado.

Chad Bennett has worked for Outward Bound since 2000 as an instructor and course director in Colorado. He spends his winters in India, managing retreats and practicing in the Insight Meditation tradition.
