Shambhala Path of Social Engagement: A Shambhala Buddhist Approach to Social Action & Peacemaking

July 11 - 13

This program has been cancelled.

In this weekend retreat, we will explore skillful means for alleviating and transforming suffering, fearlessly engaging the many challenges facing our world with the contemplative wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist and Shambhala teachings. The program will include training in shamatha-vipashyana meditation and various Shambhala Buddhist contemplative practices, including tonglen. We will also explore Presencing, Deep Listening, Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and the Way of Council (listening circles), and dialogue about possible avenues for social engagement.

Sensei Fleet Maull, author, meditation teacher and social activist, founded Prison Dharma Network and the Colorado Peacemaker Institute. A senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist and Zen Peacemaker communities, he teaches Socially Engaged Buddhism at Naropa University, where he also directs the Center for Contemplative End-of-Life Care.

The registration date for this program has already passed.
