Shambhala Peace Day 2008 and the Speech Empowerment of the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya
|
July - 20, 2008 In 2000, the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya received the Empowerment of Body when the skull relic of The Vidyadhara Chogyam Trunga Rinpoche was placed in the heart center of the seated Buddha.
The Stupa itself is the architectural representation of awakened mind, and the formal Empowerment of Mind occurred when the Stupa was consecrated in 2001.
On July 20, 2008 Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will oversee the formal Empowerment of Speech which will complete the three empowerments of Body, Speech and Mind.
Thanks to the hard work of the Shambhala Archives team and many donors, the Vidyadhara's teachings have been put onto 3000 gold CD's to be installed into the body of the Stupa (including the infamous renditions of the Shambhala Anthem!) Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will lead a procession to the Stupa, where he will preside over the blessing ceremony and placement.
Peace Day will begin at 9:00am when we inaugurate the annual Shambhala Peace Day Trail Race, a run benefiting the Konchok Foundation. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will be running the race with us!
Please join us for lunch at 11:30am, immediately followed at 1:00pm by ”The Sound of Shambhala", a lively staff produced fundraiser for Shambhala Mountain Center, which will directly lead into the procession up to the Stupa. After the speech empowerment, there will be a celebratory barbeque dinner with music and dancing.
To help us plan for the number of attendees please register below. There is no need to register if you are planning to attend one of the programs taking place on the land on this date. With the exception of entry fees for the Shambhala Peace Day Trail Race there is no cost to participate. When you register do not enter your credit card information. Instead check the payment by check option. No payment is required.
As this event is happening during Vajrayana Seminary and the Shambhala Dzogchen Retreat, the land will be quite full and overnight accommodations at Shambhala Mountain will not be available. For information on lodging options in the area, please contact us at 888-STUPA21.
Please join us for this wonderful and auspicious day of celebration!
