We all long to live at peace, yet given the frenzied pace of daily life, we often react to life circumstances by feeling stressed. When we are in this state, we not only put our health at risk, but we also miss the vivid beauty and potential ease inherent in our lives. However, by bringing mindfulness to our body, thoughts and feelings, we can begin to shortcircuit the stress response. In becoming intimately aware of our own experience, moment by moment, we come to recognize that peace is not only possible, but it is also the essence of our very being. In this retreat, we will explore contemplative practices that enhance the power of mindfulness, including sitting and walking meditation, gentle yoga and body scan. The program will also include talks, discussion and several days of silence.
Prerequisite: Previous experience with meditation, yoga or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is recommended.
