Shambhala Training Level I: The Art of Being Human with Acharya Richard JohnNovember 21 – 23, 2008
Shambhala Training is a secular meditation training that develops fearlessness, confidence, openness and gentleness towards ourselves and our world. These qualities arise out of meditation practice and study of Shambhala warriorship. Shambhala Training welcomes people of all religious traditions as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path.
In Shambhala Training Level I: The Art of Being Human we will learn to experience the world as sacred and see basic goodness as our birthright. Acharya Richard John is one of the senior-most teachers in the Shambhala tradition. His teaching has for many years focused on the union of the Buddhist and Shambhala lineages. He has directed all levels of Shambhala Training, several Warrior Assemblies, Sutrayana Seminary and weekend programs at Shambhala Centers worldwide. Richard completed the first three-year group retreat at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. Recently retired as director of the Halifax Shambhala Centre, he now teaches full time and represents the acharyas on the Sakyong’s Council. He and his wife, Liz Richardson, reside in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Recommended Reading: Turning the Mind into an Ally Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior
