Shambhala Mountain Center is pleased to be able to offer childcare for children ages 3 through 15 during some of the 2011 summer programs. Our childcare is inspired by the Shambhala Buddhist view that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and intelligence. Shambhala Mountain Center childcare is structured to nurture these innate qualities in children and young people.

Children spend six hours per day in mixed age groups doing art and music, games, storytelling, theatre and lots of out of doors activities.  Parents are responsible for their children outside of childcare hours and should plan on missing some program time or bringing a nanny.

The cost for childcare is $40 per day for the first child, which includes housing in the parent’s room, meals and childcare, and $35 each additional child. A special discount for nanny’s and for children not in childcare is available.  All children coming to the Center must be registered for childcare or be under the care of a dedicated adult or nanny.

There will be childcare during Family Camp August 3rd through 10th.  There will be no childcare during either Scorpion Seal Assembly as these programs are retreats.   
For all other programs a minimum of six children must be registered in order for childcare to run. This is necessary so that the children have a good experience with lots of interaction and dynamic play. If there are not six children for any one program, we will be unable to offer childcare for that program. 

Parents must register themselves and their children a minimum of 60 days in advance of the program they are planning to attend. Shambhala Mountain Center will contact parents to let them know if the six child minimum has been met. If the minimum is not met a 100% refund of deposit(s) paid will be made.
