Whole-Body Yoga & Relationships in Denver with Sofia Diaz

May 2, 2009

Learn how whole-body yoga can bring about a more conscious life and more fulfilling relationships.
This is a one day intensive held at Loews Denver Hotel.

Responsibly engaging a yogic process of relating is the next evolutionary step for men and women yearning to bring the consciousness of their spiritual practice to their relationships. The degree to which we are capable of feeling outward, in all directions, from our body dictates the flavor and clarity (or lack thereof) of maintaining gratifying relationships in our personal and professional lives. In this one-day practice retreat of "whole-body yoga," we will apply the wisdom of Nadi Yoga ("mini chakras") to the concept of unconstricted relating. This workshop will include yoga asana (postures), group discussion, and partner exercises, which will be held while practicing pranayama (a breathing exercise) known as the “Full Breath of Life.”

Come and take advantage of 27 years of applied experience with master teacher Sofia Diaz as she instructs us in untying the emotional kinks that prevent us from embodying the feeling-capacity of a conscious life. As we engage our bodies in full breath and freedom we will learn to work out tussles in our relationships.

Sofia Ophelia Diaz is a gifted teacher of hatha yoga, sacred movement, and feminine spiritual practice. Her teaching and body philosophy derives from the South Indian Temple Arts and their accompanying scriptures. Along with 27 years of intensive study and daily practice of several yoga traditions, Sofia apprenticed with dance and music masters of the Balasaraswati lineage of Devadasi sadir. She holds a bachelor’s degree in dance from Mills College in Oakland, California, and a master’s degree in religious studies from the University of Colorado. She has taught in Somatic Psychology at Naropa University and the University of Colorado in Boulder, and founded a school of hatha yoga and sacred movement arts in Boulder, Colorado. Sofia has published writings on yoga and sacred movement in both academic and popular journals and travels frequently, teaching women's yoga intensives throughout the world.
