Summer Ngöndro Retreat with Acharya Allyn Lyon

The foundational ngöndro practices help us differentiate between samsara and nirvana.

The Shambhala ngöndro is meant to be accomplished in a group practice environment to galvanize those warriors and foster friendship, camaraderie, and celebration, thus mixing practice with life. This increases personal windhorse and invigorates the windhorse of the group, giving power and potency to the vision of Shambhala. The schedule for this retreat will include six to eight hours of daily practice in addition to time for study, talks, and celebration. This retreat is an excellent opportunity for Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary graduates to deepen their understanding and establish their practice with the support of experienced ngöndro practitioners. Rigden (Shambhala), Kagyü, and Nyingma ngöndro practitioners are all warmly invited to join us for this special summer program.

This program was previously scheduled as a two week program. It has been shortened to one week so that as many people as possible can attend the Sangha Retreat with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche & Acharyas Pema Chödrön & Adam Lobel July 17th to 24th.

Prerequisite: Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary

Acharya Allyn Lyon is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. She has served as director of Shambhala Mountain Center and has taught at Vajradhatu Seminary. Allyn has traveled and taught extensively in Europe, the U.S. and Mexico, as well as at Naropa University. She currently serves as resident acharya in both Tepotzlan, Mexico, and Los Angeles.

Our intent is to encourage and support intensive practice opportunities for Shambhala community members. Therefore for those ngöndro practitioners who are not able to afford our regular room and board rates we are making available a special discounted room and board rate of $40 per night for tent double accommodations. The total discounted price of the retreat for this option (including program tuition of $165) is $445. We are not able to offer discounted rates for our other accommodation options.
