Sutrayana Seminary deepens and expands the practice and study students undertook in the Shambhala School of Buddhist Studies, dathün, and the Shambhala Training Heart of Warriorship program. During this two week program led by a Shambhala Acharya, students live in a Shambhala environment, alternating periods of intensive meditation practice with classes in Buddhist and Shambhala view and practice.
Completion of Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary provides the necessary preparation for Shambhala Vajrayana Seminary, the gateway to the Vajrayana transmissions and teachings of Sakyong Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche and his father, Ven. Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Prerequisites: 1. Dathün 2. The Shambhala School of Buddhist Studies, or an equivalent, intermediate level of Buddhist study, including study of the 1999 and 2000 Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary Transcripts 3. The Shambhala Training Heart of Warriorship program 4. Membership in your local Shambhala Meditation Center/Group or Shambhala International if you live in a remote area where center membership is not possible Acharya Jenny Warwick has been a student of Trungpa Rinpoche for over 35 years, and is currently a student of the Sakyong. She attended Seminary in 1976 and served as the Ambassador of the Vancouver Dharmadhatu from 1980 to 1985. In 1985, Jenny moved to Karme Choling, where she served for five years as Executive Co-Director. She has lead numerous dathüns and Vajrayana intensives as well as Warriors Assembly. Between 2006 and 2007, Jenny participated in the second year of the Three Year Retreat at Sopa Choling Retreat Center. Andrew Holecek has completed the traditional three-year Buddhist meditation retreat and is the founder of the Forum of Living and Dying, which offers seminars around the country on death and dying. He writes a column for Bodhi Magazine and his book on spiritual hardship, The Power and the Pain: Transforming Spiritual Hardship into Joy, will be available in April, 2010. If you are interested in attending Shambhala Sutrayana Seminary, you must apply for and be accepted into the program. PLEASE NOTE: You are not fully registered for this program until your application has been approved and you have registered with Shambhala Mountain. Prices include the program materials fee of $35.
