Creating Sacred Gardens with Martin Mosko & Alxe Noden

June 18 – 20, 2010

Create a place of peace in your own back yard.
Join us as we learn how to create sacred space. Using cigar boxes, play dough, sand, paint, and other modeling materials, we will go through a progressive set of exercises that will unfold the principles and design methodology to create a place of tranquility and repose. We will be focused on garden space. However, the principles apply to all types of design.

Meditation is the foundation of contemplative design. The design process deepens and sharpens the meditative mind. This integrated approach of meditation and action can lead to a better understanding of how to manifest the contemplative mind in everyday life.

No meditation or design background is required.

Martin Mosko is President and principal of Marpa Landscape Design Studio, and has been creating award-winning gardens throughout the U.S. for over 35 years. In addition to his responsibilities at Marpa, he is abbot of Hakubai Temple in Boulder, Colorado.

Alxe Noden is a writer and photographer who has been studying Tibetan Buddhism for over 20 years. She joined Marpa in 1993. Together, Martin and Alxe wrote and photographed
Landscape As Spirit: Creating a Contemplative Garden and are currently at work on their next book.
