Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Janet SolyntjesOctober 22 – 24, 2010
Inspired by the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, this retreat offers an opportunity to learn tools for engaging the demands of our lives, whether we face illness, chronic pain, personal crisis, or the ongoing challenges of living “the full catastrophe.” Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program of scientifically supported practical teachings for healing and stress reduction. Through relating very directly with our body and emotions we will discover the power of mindfulness to change our lives. Participants will be guided in the practices of sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful yoga, and body scan.
Recommended for stressed out people from all walks of life. Recommended Reading: Full Catastrophe Living and Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Janet Solyntjes, MA, teaches mindfulness practices at Hollyhock (Canada’s leading learning center), Colorado Integrative Cancer Care, and Shambhala Meditation Centers. A practitioner of mind-body disciplines since 1977, she completed a professional training in MBSR with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli and an MBSR Teacher Development Intensive at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Janet is also co-founder of the Boulder-based Center for Courageous Living.
