Bringing Your Practice Home: Yoga and Meditation Retreat with Katharine KaufmanNovember 12 – 14, 2010
One way to make sense of our varied and complex lives is to begin or end each day with yoga and meditation practice in our own homes, hotel rooms or offices (or hallways!). But where to start? What to do? Together we will cultivate authentic practices rooted in ancient wisdom lineages, discovering different ways to design a practice--short, long, simple, complex, playful and restorative. Listening to our creativity, intuition and senses, we will engage the inner qualities of our body and mind, appreciating our evolving abilities and capacities. At times in our classes, meditation practice or yoga postures have felt pushed or imposed. In this weekend retreat we will explore ways to approach a yoga/meditation practice by finding and trusting inner experience, whether we our taking our favorite yoga class or alone at home.
Open levels. Katharine Kaufman, M.F.A. is lay ordained in the Soto Zen lineage by Kobun Chino, Roshi. She taught and practiced yoga for many years at Richard Freeman's Yoga Workshop and studied in India with Pattabhi Jois. She is a senior adjunct faculty member of Naropa University, where she teaches Contemplative Movement Arts. Katharine also teaches at Studio Be, Boulder and in Longmont, and is a published poet.
