Windhorse: Horses & the Power of Our True Nature with Jackie Ashley & Jim Tolstrup

October 11 – 14, 2007

Through relating with these majestic animals, we can discover their qualities—power, grace, dignity and freedom—in ourselves as well. This program has been cancelled.

Through the powerful and magical presence of horses and the practice of contemplative sitting meditation, we will connect deeply with the true essence of our own windhorse, or the living energy we all possess and long to express fully in the world. Embodying this energy, power, grace, dignity and freedom, these majestic animals mirror and inspire these qualities within us. Challenging our relationship to fear, confidence and courage, horses help us discover the direct connection between fear and fearlessness. No experience with horses necessary. Limited to 12 participants.

Jackie Ashley is a somatic psychotherapist. EAGALA level 1-certified, she has been utilizing horses in her practice since 2001. Jackie is adjunct faculty at Naropa University, teaching body-based meditation practice and creative arts therapies, and a senior clinician with Windhorse Community Services.

Jim Tolstrup, a director of Shambhala Training and long-time student of indigenous wisdom traditions, has led numerous workshops focusing on meditation and the development of a sacred outlook toward environmental stewardship. Director of Shambhala Botanic Garden, he is currently writing a book about sacred ecology.

Please arrive between 2 and 5pm on Thursday, October 11. Program ends with lunch at 12:30pm on Sunday, October 14. View Detailed Program Information.
