Taking Stunning Nature Photographs with Martin Mosko and Alxe NodenOctober 3 – 5, 2008
Clean the lens of your perception as we explore a contemplative approach to outdoor photography. In this program, we will learn to open our eyes and minds so that we can better see, appreciate and communicate through the medium of photography. This workshop will include a brief history of fine art photography to hone our perceptions, understanding how the camera and eyes see differently, and principles of composition.
After spending several days taking pictures under the direction of Martin and Alxe, Mike Dobson from Mike's Camera will demonstrate various output alternatives available today for turning your images into extraordinary works of art for display and cover options for archiving and backing up of digital files. Please bring a digital camera and memory card and an open mind. No previous experience with photography is required other than a working knowledge of your camera in manual mode. Co-sponsored by Mike's Camera. Martin Mosko is a Zen monk and heir to the lineage of Tensan Keibun Otokawa Roshi. He trained in Tibetan Buddhism with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and is founder of Marpa Design Studio, a landscape and architecture company. Author of Landscape As Spirit: Creating a Contemplative Garden, Martin is abbot of Hakubai Temple and travels the country lecturing on garden design, contemplative photography, and meditation. Alxe Noden was educated at Cornell University and Boston University School of Law, and has studied Tibetan Buddhism in the United States and abroad. An accomplished writer and photographer, she is coauthor and co-photographer of Landscape As Spirit.
