General Summary of Function

Develop practical and functional systems for Shambhala Mountain Center

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Oversee department budgets
• Help the above Department Heads coordinate and interface with other departments to share resources per SMC vision
• Help the above Department Heads establish the view and mission of their department and how it interfaces with Shambhala Mountain Center’s view and mission
• Understand the basic workings, needs, and inherent problems of the supervised department
• Help the above Department Heads organize, set priorities, manage, schedule, and train the department and staff
• Be a member on Executive committees


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1) Preferred but not required knowledge and understanding of Shambhala Mountain Center’s short- and long-term structure, vision, and mission
2) Ability and skill to prioritize and multi-task the management and coordination of several diverse departments and personnel
3) Good interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
4) Flexibility and adaptability


Experience/ Education/ Certification Requirement

1) Preferred but not required experience and/or working knowledge of all supervised departments
2) 3-5 years of senior management, operations, and/or systems management experience
3) Experience in Exec group membership
4) Applicant must be a Tantrika or Sadhaka in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage
5) Applicant must be 18 years of age or older


Commitment Request
Shambhala Mountain Center is requesting that all applicants for this position be ready to make a 2-3 consecutive year commitment to being employed by Shambhala Mountain Center.

This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties requested by his or her supervisor.

Shambhala Mountain Center offers a reasonable monthly stipend plus living accommodations and meals, health and dental benefits, sick and vacation time, and all staff are able to take advantage of teaching programs, classes, and daily meditation practice for free. Staff members live in a vibrant community and work in the service of providing excellent programs for guests.
