Director of Marketing

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Description of Job Segments:

Marketing Plan
Perform research, develop goals, themes, budget, schedules, suppliers, evaluation
Collaborate with management in setting parameters
Collect data and analyze competitive environment and set pricing models
Create and test themes and creative concepts (positioning)
Develop marketing plan implementation schedule (calendering)
Forecast yearly budget for all marketing activities
Define all human resource requirements (people)
Research, negotiate price and terms and engage suppliers, contractors and talent
Design and provide full reports to management to evaluate plan
Coordinate all expenditures within confines of established Purchase Order System

Creative Services
Copywriting
Set deadlines, review submitted copy and approve
Design
Review and approve all graphic and web-related design
Photography
Research, collect and document rights use of all photos

Website Management
Content and maintenance
Create and revise website content regularly
Insure that all modifications are verified, correct and implemented on schedule
Seek appropriate approval for sensitive content
Functionality
Review functionality and performance
Insure that all links and scripts are working properly and are updated
Anticipate site upgrades based on emerging trends
Insure security features are working correctly (ecommerce, etc.)
Insure that all domain registrations are renewed
Provide management with update of all passwords and resources
Evaluate server environment and performance (hosting)
Review security, pricing and speed
Forecast bandwidth demand and user environment
Evaluate potential for “cloud computing” based on scalability issues
Supervise software programming and development to improve performance
Develop software projects based on need
Manage programmers and coding projects
Purchase third-party software and utilities as needed
Upgrades
Keep abreast of software development and web trends
Insure that software upgrades are considered based on user preferences and performance
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Insure that SEO meets current SEO standards
Periodically review SEO results using Google Analytics
Insure that Google Analytic code is installed on all relevant pages of site
Mobile Media
Create plan for mobile media platform
Develop mobile media version of website

Online Media
Develop list of appropriate online publications, aggregator and blog sites
Create content and develop implementation strategy

Online Advertising
Develop themes, conversion goals, ad content and segmented search engine ad strategy
Coordinate “landing” pages with Adword programs
Google Adwords, Yahoo Adwords, Bing Adwords
Research and implement ads on other websites as appropriate

Print Media
Determine mix of regional/national program
Newspapers
Gather relevant rates, editorial and publication schedules
Negotiate terms and insertion rates
Create ads and insertion orders
Magazines
Gather relevant rates, editorial and publication schedules
Negotiate terms and insertion rates
Create ads and insertion orders

Promotional Materials (print)
Coordinate all design and creative conceptual
Assign projects to appropriate suppliers
Secure competitive bids from printers

Coordination with SMC Staff on calendering and requirements

Development of mass email program plan and schedule

Evaluate email response rate (re Analytics, landing pages and conversions)


Applicant qualifications and requirements

 Extensive experience in the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing plans

 A high level of creativity, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines within budgets

 Experience in all phases of design and print, including:
• use of primary software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design
• evaluation of print suppliers, pricing, proofs and press checks

 Experience in all phases of website and online development including:
• Design and copywriting
• Management of software development and basic understanding of programming, including solid HTML skills and familiarity of the use of PHP, Flash, Ajax and other programming tools and languages.
• Understanding of server and hosting environments
• Use of Google Analyics
• Administration of Adwords programs
• Social networking methodology

 Experience in Public Relations

 Excellent writing and communication skills

 A willingness and enjoyment of collaboration with others

 Willingness to engage in an understanding of and participation in the practices of Shambhala.
