Summer Set Up 2011
April 24–June 5, 2011
Come to Shambhala Mountain Center this spring, do some physical work, some meditation practice, make new friends . . . this is a Volunteer Opportunity that could transform your life! We need your help to get ready for our busy summer season. During Summer Set-Up, from April 25th to June 3rd, we erect a tent village nestled in the mountain meadows and wooded hillsides near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The Summer Set-Up team always consists of interesting people, both men and women, with varied backgrounds.
The schedule includes six and a half hours of work each day, six days a week. In exchange, you will receive meals, live in a tent village; and have access to meditation instruction and daily group meditation, evening classes, and other activities. You will earn $100 Program Credit for each week of work. This can be used to attend most programs at the Center and is good for up to two years. It is preferable to be here for several weeks, or the entire program! The minimum stay is one week.
We have a lot of fun and do some hard work. The Center is high in the Rocky Mountains (about 8,000 feet), and the work can be physical and rigorous. Please consider this before applying. Arrival days for the program are Sundays. Fridays are departure days (except for the final departure day, which is on a Thursday). Please plan to arrive and depart on these days only.
For further information and to complete an application please go to the Volunteer, Internship & Core Staff Opportunities page of our website. In addition to submitting the application, please register below. Your application is not complete until we receive both your application and your registration. Please indicate your arrival date (April 24, May 1, 8, 15, and 22) and departure date (May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 3) in the Comments section of the information page (step 3) of your web registration. We will contact you once a decision has been made on your application. If you have any questions, please contact Human Resources at employment@shambhalamountain.org or (970) 881-2184 x237.
