Fall Take-Down Participants

Position Summary

This year, Fall Take-down begins on 8/24/13 and runs through 9/28/13. The work involves taking down our tent villages used as staff and program participant housing as well as three large tents used for dining and program delivery. The work is physical, can be rigorous and is completed at an altitude of 8,000 feet. The schedule includes five 8-hour days each week with meditation, lunch and tea breaks. Weekends are usually free time unless weather affects the work schedule.

In exchange for your service, Shambhala Mountain Center provides tent then dorm housing, meals, access to meditation instruction, classes and group activities and the ability to attend some public weekend programs without cost. In addition, program credits in the amount of $100 per week are offered which can be used to attend most programs at SMC after you leave.

While it is preferable to participate for several weeks or for the entire program, it is possible to come for a minimum of one week unless it is the last week. Arrival days are on Sundays and departure days are on Saturdays (except for the final departure day which is a Sunday). Please plan to arrive and depart on these days only.

For consideration, please complete the Volunteer Staff application form.
