Slow down, breathe in the mountain air, and have fun with the whole family at this one of a kind Mindful Games retreat. Separately and together, parents and kids will learn fun, brief, original, and effective mindfulness activities that build lasting psychological strengths while offering moments of calm and humor even when stress and strong emotions in your household run high. Mindful games strengthen and support how families connect to and communicate with one another while helping parents and kids alike develop greater mind-body awareness, compassionate life skills, and manage stress.

Parents will be offered a chance to practice with other parents and learn age-appropriate activity-based mindfulness for families with Susan Kaiser Greenland, author of the Mindful Child and Mindful Games. Children will take part in a rich program of mindfulness, meditation, and yoga taught through stories, songs, and play with Leslie Gossett. Everyone will come together for fun activities such as hikes, games, and evenings by the fire. Days will be spacious so that the entire family will have the opportunity to connect, play, learn and deepen their experiences with mindfulness together and in community with other families.

Please note: Children of all ages are welcome to this retreat. However, parents will be responsible for the care taking of children under the age of 3.

Susan Kaiser Greenland is an internationally recognized leader in teaching mindfulness and meditation to children, teens, parents, and professionals. She is Author of The Mindful Child and Mindful Games. She speaks widely at prestigious institutions and meditation centers in the United States and abroad. From 1988 to 2005 Susan worked as a corporate lawyer representing ABC and CBS network-owned and operated television and radio stations. During that time she developed the Inner Kids model while volunteering in public schools teaching secular mindfulness. Susan was on the clinical team of the Pediatric Pain Clinic at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, co-investigator on several UCLA research studies on the impact of mindfulness in education. In 2006, Susan was recognized as a “Champion for our Children” by First 5 LA. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Foundation for a Mindful Society. Susan has studied meditation with teachers from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition since 1997. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband the author Seth Greenland. They have two grown children. Leslie Gossett is the Director of Family and Children’s Programming for Northern California Shambhala and founder of Be You Yoga and Mindfulness for Families and Children. She has worked with children for over 19 years. She is a certified yoga teacher for children and adults, a Meditation Guide in the Shambhala tradition, and a nanny to four amazing beings. She is dedicated to creating spaces for humans (and especially small ones) to connect with the strength and wisdom of their own hearts. She lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
