All of us have an innate capacity to experience well being, strength, and confidence, even in the face of stress, pain, or illness. In order to enhance that capacity, we introduce the power of mindfulness, the practice of meeting each moment with an open heart and mind. The Mindfulness Meditation Retreat is an intensive 5-day, teacher-led, silent meditation retreat which emphasizes the deep understanding and practice of mindfulness meditation in its most universal and accessible expression.

The Mindfulness Meditation Retreat is suitable for mindfulness teachers or aspiring teachers, and fulfills the retreat prerequisite for attending MBSR teacher certification training programs.

The Retreat includes meditation instruction, talks by senior teachers, guided sessions of mindfulness meditation practice, movement exercises, and mindful eating, as well as sessions of contemplation and teachings to deepen the understanding of the practice.

This is not an introductory retreat, and prior experience with a personal meditation practice is recommended.

Online Retreat Guidelines

In order for us to be able practice mindfulness with minimal distractions, we want to establish a contemplative environment in our homes. If your home environment does not feel suitable for a silent retreat, you may want to consider an alternative (such as an Airbnb rental). To support this approach, we ask that you engage in the following practices between Zoom sessions, for the duration of the retreat:

  • Go on a news fast, which simply means opting out of following the news: watching it on TV, listening to it on the radio, reading newspapers, or following on social media to catch up on current events.
  • Go on a screen fast: Between zoom sessions, refrain from using all electronic online devices, as well as your TV.
  • Practice conscious listening: Instead of doing a lot of talking between Zoom sessions, put more emphasis on listening mindfully to the people you come in contact with during this retreat. The second aspect of this practice is to pause occasionally and mindfully listen to the ordinary sounds around you.
