Embark on a transformational journey of provocative self-inquiry, social justice education and creative exploration to uncover your deepest passion and motivation for service that leads to embodied, effective, and conscious action. Combining the tools of yoga, meditation, self-investigation, voice, and ritual with the practical tools of communication, organization, and collaboration, you learn to become more effective leaders and agents of change in the world.
This program is a 5 day series of workshops. The workshops run 6 hours per day: 9 am to 12:15 pm and 2:15 to 5 pm. Please note: This program ends at 5 pm on the final day. You may add an extra night to your stay for 25% off our normal lodging rates. Select “Add an extra night” from the registration page in the upper right hand corner above lodging options.
For yoga teachers, community leaders, activists, and interested students. At least one year of yoga experience is strongly suggested. Off the Mat strives to include and accommodate people of all ages and abilities. Please contact us for more information.
During this workshop you will:
- Learn about the mind-body connection and how the body holds and reveals all experiences
- Explore how to work in environments of suffering and trauma in a healthy, just and sustainable way
- Release limiting beliefs and step into unabashed expressions of purpose and joy
- Liberate the power of your voice as a tool for empowerment and standing in solidarity with others
- Connect deeply with the state of the world and discover your most effective path to service
- Explore the difference between charity and social justice and what it means to operate from a place of understanding interdependence and standing for equality.
- Activate your purpose, engage in collaboration, and connect with your community
Note from the program presenters:
The work that you will do in this workshop is physically and psychologically provocative. Although we feel it is done extremely responsibly and with a clinician as one of the facilitators, group work is not appropriate for everyone. If you are actively dealing with psychological symptoms, our clinical director, Hala Khouri, will need a note from your therapist and will possibly reach out to you as well to assess if this workshop is appropriate for you. Please contact Hala directly at Hala@offthematintotheworld.org
Intensive Price Tiers
One of the ways Off the Mat stands for equality and access for all is by creating a pricing tier structure that invites participants to pay based on their income level. This way, people who can pay more “pay it forward” by supporting those who can’t.
Tuition does not include the cost of lodging and meals. Prices shown on the next page, after selecting your tuition level, are all-inclusive (i.e. tuition, 6 nights lodging, and 3 meals per day.)
Please consider what is truly sustainable for you, and choose a price that feels in integrity:
Support other leaders as well as yourself.
Pays for you.
