Sacred Energies: Wisdom of World Religions
October 5–7, 2012
This program was RESCHEDULED from March 16–18, 2012.
A great, universal energy exists inside each human being, known by different names in the world’s religions: Maha Kundalini Shakti in Hinduism; Kundalini, Windhorse and Tummo in Buddhism. Experienced in the mind, heart and body, it is pictured in the Kabbalah as ten points of light (the Sephiroth) and in Christianity as the Holy Spirit. This sacred energy is found in the ecstatic dances of the Sufis and in indigenous traditions worldwide. This retreat offers an opportunity to learn about this sacred energy in each world religion and to experience its power. Our time together includes talks, meditative practices, dialogue sessions, chanting, movement and dancing.
Sonya Jones, PhD, dubbed a “female Huston Smith” for her work in comparative world religions, teaches comparative religions in the Honors Program at the University of Kentucky. She serves as Retreat Master at Slate Branch Ashram, home of Adishraddha or Sacred Feet Yoga. Her latest book is Jesus Was a Shaktipat Guru.
