Shambhala Sun Camp

July 18–30, 2019

This program is being run by Shambhala Sun Camp and held at Shambhala Mountain Center. For more information, questions, and to register, please visit their website:

Sun Camp July 21 – 28
Shambhala Sun Camp is an outdoor, sleep-away summer camp for children ages 10-16. Since 1984, campers have been returning time and again to experience nature, themselves, and a community where people take care of one another. Campers leave behind television, video games, and other kinds of urban entertainments in exchange for the simplicity of living in a tent in nature.

There is also a program beforehand for 14-16 year olds, called Cadet Command Workshop (CCW) and a program afterward for 16-20 year olds called Rites of Warriorship (ROW):

CCW July 18 – 21
The Cadet Command Workshop (CCW) is a three-day intensive training program for 14 to 16-year-olds who have previously attended Sun Camp. The program focuses on developing leadership skills that participants will need to help prepare and take care of the environment in which Sun Camp will take place.

ROW July 28 – 30
According to the Shambhala tradition, 16 is the age marking the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood. The Rites of Warriorship is a rites of passage opportunity for 16 year olds to step directly through this transition.
