The Force of Kindness with Sharon Salzberg

Sharon Salzberg

August 11–15, 2006

Tuition $175 + 4 nights

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has stated, “My true religion is kindness.” Although frequently denigrated in our culture as simplistic and weak, the quality of kindness has an inherent power to transform our worldview from one of fear and isolation to one rooted in clarity, courage and compassion.

Through dharma talks, guided meditations and questions, Sharon Salzberg will explain the relevance of right intention, right speech and right action in cultivating kindness in our hearts and minds. The retreat will also examine the effects kindness can have upon the world.

Sharon Salzberg has been a student of Buddhism since 1971 and has been leading meditation retreats worldwide since 1974. She teaches both intensive awareness practice (vipassana or insight meditation) and the profound cultivation of lovingkindness and compassion (the Brahma Viharas). Cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, she is the author of Faith: Trusting Your Own Deepest Experience, Loving Kindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness and The Force of Kindness, published by Sounds True.
