May 19, 2017 (8 weeks prior to arrival date.) Registrations made after this date will be subject to a $125 late registration fee.
If your preferred lodging type is not available please register for an available option and then indicate your lodging preference under “Room Waitlist.” if it becomes available we will upgrade you. Lodge Housing will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
Apply as Staff:
Staff arrival will be two days prior to arrival day, July 12th. All staff should plan on arriving no later than July 12th
Participation in the entire Assembly is required.
To reserve your spot, 50% of lodging cost and 50% of tuition deposit is due upon registration.
The full remaining balance is due on June 16, 2017 (30 days prior to your arrival date.)
If you cancel your reservation more than 14 days prior to arrival, you will receive a full refund less a credit card processing fee of 5% of payment. If you cancel between 2 to 14 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Mountain Center to be used within 2 years. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 48-hours prior to arrival. This also applies to refunds due to cancellation of additional nights or downgrades in housing selection (fee will be 5% of refund due.) Once program credit has been given in place of a deposit, it can not be turned back into a cash or credit card refund.
The materials fee for the 2017 SSA II has yet to be confirmed, but is estimated at $180.00 USD, not including shipping. This is a required cost, separate from the tuition.
Shambhala Mountain Center requires that people have set up an account through The Offering Bowl or other similar fundraising website. Then, you may apply for financial aid, using the form provided by clicking here. Financial aid cannot be combined with any other form of price-break. Financial Aid applications are due June 16, 2017.
Please refer to your center to determine what Shambhala Benefits are. Please note that the following are current benefits that are subject to change in 2017. Shambhala Benefits are typically for full or part-time paid employees of Shambhala (benefits differ). Shambhala Benefits are for Tent Double housing. If you would like to upgrade your housing, you must pay the upgrade. If you have questions about Shambhala Benefits, please send an email to email@example.com. If you are eligible for Shambhala Benefits, please select Tent Double as your housing, write your intention in the Comments/Special Needs section of the SMC registration form, and choose “Pay by check.”
No laundry service will be provided during this program.
Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is the head of the Shambhala lineage. An incarnation of Mipham the Great, he is the dharma heir and son of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Shambhala Mountain Center’s founder. Sakyong Mipham is the spiritual director of Shambhala, a global network of meditation and retreat centers, and the author of the national bestseller Turning the Mind into an Ally, as well as Ruling Your World , Running with the Mind of Meditation and The Shambhala Principle. His background embraces both Eastern and Western cultures. Born in Bodhgaya, India, the site of the Buddha’s enlightenment, he grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and received his spiritual training from his father and other distinguished lamas. In addition to Shambhala, the Sakyong also holds the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. An avid poet, artist and athlete, he travels extensively teaching throughout the world.
Acharya Susan Chapman, author of The Five Keys To Mindful Communication, is a retired family therapist, contemplative psychologist and meditation teacher. She completed Gampo Abbey’s three year retreat and served as Druppon, retreat leader, for six years.
