Summer Set Up 2013

April 21–June 2, 2013

Come to Shambhala Mountain Center this spring, do some physical work, some meditation practice, make new friends . . . this is a Volunteer Opportunity that could transform your life! We need your help to get ready for our busy summer season. During Summer Set-Up, from April 21st to June 2nd, we erect a tent village nestled in the mountain meadows and wooded hillsides near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The Summer Set-Up team always consists of interesting people, both men and women, with varied backgrounds.

The schedule includes five 8-hour days each week with meditation, lunch and tea breaks. Weekends are usually free time unless weather affects the work schedule. In exchange for your service, Shambhala Mountain Center provides dorm or tent housing, meals, access to meditation instruction, classes and group activities.  Program credits of $100 a week are offered which can be used to attend most programs at SMC for up to a two year period.

While it is preferable to participate for several weeks or for the entire program, it is possible to come for a minimum of one week unless it is the last week. Arrival days are on Sundays and departure days are on Saturdays (except for the final departure day which is a Sunday.) Please plan to arrive and depart on these days only. And please note that it is possible to transition into a summer volunteer position from this program.

While we have a lot of fun and do some hard work, please be aware that the Center is located high in the Rocky Mountains (about 8,000 feet), and the work can be physical and rigorous. Please consider this before applying.

For consideration, please complete a Summer and Volunteer Staff application located on our website at If you have questions, please contact Human Resources at or (970) 881-2184 x237.
