The Force of Kindness Daylong Retreat in Boulder with Sharon Salzberg
May 31–July 31, 2008
This event is a fundraiser for the scholarship fund for the annual Courageous Women, Fearless Living women’s cancer retreat held at Shambhala Mountain Center.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama has stated, “My true religion is kindness.” Although frequently denigrated in our culture as simplistic and weak, the quality of kindness has an inherent power to transform our worldview from one of fear and isolation to one rooted in clarity, courage and compassion.
Lovingkindness meditation cultivates our natural capacity for an open and loving heart. It is traditionally offered with meditations that enrich compassion and joy in the happiness of others, and also deepen our own sense of peace. These practices lead to the development of concentration, connection, fearlessness and genuine happiness.
Sharon Salzberg will introduce these teachings and support us in our own experience and cultivation of these qualities through direct instruction, guided meditation and question-and-answer periods. This program is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
This daylong retreat will run from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday, May 31, at the Boulder Shambhala Center, which is located at 1345 Spruce Street, Boulder, Colorado.
On-line registration is closed. Please show up at Saturday 8:30am at Boulder Shambhala Center, 1345 Spruce Street to register.
