In Windhorse one receives the root text that gives the instruction for “raising Windhorse,” a practice which opens the heart and refreshes one’s confidence. One learns through this practice to bring about skillful and heartfelt social engagement, enabling one to go forward in the midst of whatever challenges occur.

Adana Barbieri has taught extensively and worked with Shambhala for the past 40 years. She was honored to be among the students personally trained by Chögyam Trungpa to teach Shambhala Training. In addition to her work as a realtor, Adana is associate director of an annual women’s cancer retreat Courageous Women, Fearless Living now going into its 10th year.
Jonathan Barbieri has taught Buddhist and Shambhala trainings extensively throughout North America for over 30 years, and this year was appointed a Shastri. Shastris are senior teachers in the Shambhala Lineage who help teach and mentor others and ensure the integrity of meditation and study. Jon has been engaged in several livelihood pursuits including consulting with cities and counties on workforce development, creating contemplative co-housing communities, and, most recently, teaching Mindfulness programs to public agencies and businesses. He was formerly the Executive Director of Shambhala Mountain Center.
