Winter Dathün Meditation Retreat with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche & Richard Reoch
Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
December 16, 2005–January 15, 2006
The cornerstone of the Shambhala Buddhist path, this month-long intensive, or dathün, is an extraordinary opportunity to partake in an extended group meditation retreat. The program will include sitting and walking meditation, private interviews with a qualified meditation instructor and lectures. Meals will be taken in Zen oryoki-style, and periods of silence will be observed.
The vision of Shambhala arose from the Buddha’s observation that compassion and wisdom are the roots of a harmonious society. Being ruled by anger, greed and fear destabilizes our mind, our life and the welfare of our planet. If we want a productive and peaceful world, we must each cultivate stability of mind as well our inherent human kindness and insight. When we rule our minds and open our hearts, peace and power begin to spread. The effect may be gradual, but every effort we make contributes to the enlightenment of the world. Join us for this group meditation intensive, as we work to create a world ruled by compassion and wisdom.
